Following the critical and popular success of the first BBC production of the same name, Series Two kicks off with an orchestrated attack on a police convoy carrying a high-profile protected witness. Given irregularities uncovered about the event and the officer in charge, the case is assigned to AC-12, the internal anticorruption unit of this large unnamed city. Detective Inspector Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes), a difficult whistle-blower, quickly comes under suspicion as the only one who was uninjured in the event. Did her debts and relationship with a superior make her susceptible to criminal intent, or was she set up from the start to take the fall for a clandestine network of high-ranking police officers? Subplots involving "bent coppers" and a missing underage girl provide additional layers of suspense. Twists and turns in the tightly constructed six-episode story, filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, will keep viewers guessing until the final scenes. VERDICT Recommended for audiences who enjoy police procedurals.-Linda Frederiksen, Washington State Univ. Vancouver Lib. (c) Copyright 2015.
