A blizzard strands Frank and Joe at a ski resort that has been struggling for business. Though they just want to relax and stay away from trouble, they can't help investigating a series of suspicious mishaps that are endangering the guests. While the characters remain flat, fans of this modernized series or others in the Hardy Boys franchise won't mind. (c) Copyright 2014. Those classic detectives, the Hardy Boys, are back again in this installment in the fast-paced adventure series. Frank and Joe Hardy, teenage sleuths, are lucky enough to vacation in snowy Vermont with their friends Cody and Chet, and they're both plenty excited to ski all day. Unfortunately, it seems like someone or something is out to get not only the Hardy Boys but also all of the guests at Granite Peak Lodge. Terrible things start happening, such as a guest getting locked outside in the freezing cold and the lodge's power being cut during a snowstorm. Will Frank and Joe figure out what's happening before anyone else gets hurt? This exciting short novel is a great addition to the Hardy Boys Adventures series, which updates the classic stories for younger generations (perhaps readers whose parents were Hardy Boys fans). There are a lot of hints and red herrings before the ending, making for a truly entertaining and thrilling read and keeping it easily accessible enough for younger readers to enjoy.--Comfort, Stacey Copyright 2010 Booklist
